PERMANENT PICTURES.
" Fall houses were, the order of the day at the Empire Theatre on Saturday at iioth matinee and evening' performances. To-night there will be another com.plete change of programme, and the star picture ■will be a comedy drama, 5000 ft -long, produced bv the famous World Film. Company, featuring Dibgy Bell jn !*Tbe Education of Mr Pipp." This play -was adapted for the stage and motion pictures by Charles Dana- Gibson. The supporting items will include a "Warwick Chronicle containing picturesof the latest events of the day ,also an Essanay drama, 2000 ft. entitled "Clutch of .Circumstance." PEOPLE'S PICTURES.
' Both the matinee and- evening screenings at the Theatre Royal were liberally patronised on jSatuTday, especially in the evening, when.many intendSng patrons had to be turned away. The programme which will be repeated to night, isr an excellent one. The honours are divided between VThe Silence of Pine Mountain," "The Parson; from' Lone Pine." and.the "Black Box," all different classes of- fihn, but ail equally good. "The silence of jasper -Holt" is an; excellent drama of "love and war. "Old! Mother "Gray" is a drama, which cannot fail to give pleasure to all. "The Parson from Pine Mountain" depicts the sacrifice a f country parson made to save the honour _of the,girl he loved. The story, in brief, is as follows: —The parson is in love with Lizzie. Steve, who has been drinking, forces his way into' Lizzie's " house... The parson tells the girl's father that be loves Lizzie and wants to marry her." They return to find Lizzie sitting at.',thet..table with a look of hopeless misery on her face. - Her father goes after. Steve with a gun, but the parson stops him. .He brings Steve back and marries him to the girl he himself loves. The popular Trans-Atlantic serial "The Black Box," has now reached its 7th , episode, and promises to.be even more " ' interesting and , fascinating than any previous episode. This chapter i? en--3 titled" "The House of Mystery." "Nosey Parker!* is another of i. he'animated cartoons made so popular by the clever " artist-'Santry. It depicts the «-xtinc'iioa of the Bulgarian King ' and the humiliation of the Kaiser. "BritisU ■War-' Film, 'No. 5" (shown -by special -- license,* Lady Baffles and Detective 5n "Saved by a Scent." and an excellent series * ;of ~\ pictures^—dramatic, comic, and. scenic—complete the programme. .
