DISCHARGED SOLDIERS

(United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Jan. 5. The Hon. G. W. Russell proposes to convene a conference of representatves of patriotic societies next month, . to discuss their responsibilities towards discharged soldiers. The Minister considers such discussion necessary in order that a plan of work may be arranged so as to avoid overlapping. Therefore, as the Minister entrusted with the administration of the War Funds Act, 1915, Mr Russell has issued a circular to patiiotic societies surveying the position and suggesting points whereon discussipiv is desirable He will not participate in the conference".
