The Empire Theatre was -well attended last evening, when a. very good programme was presented. - To-night there /will ibe a. complete change of. programme, and it would be"-hard to find & more attractive list "than tins. Star "films andfavourite star .actresses and. actors featyrem;■almost the whole of the evening's entertainment. Mary pickford, appeal's in a charming little Dutch, melodraml, "Lena, and the Qeese." Rosco'e Arbuckle laughs and makes others' laugh in Keystone's latest farce, "Their i Ups and Downs," and Maurice Cos- | tello 'has the star role in'a fine ' Vitagraph drama, '"The Acjd -feet," "which tells how a man puts his wife's love tb the test. >by declaring himself, a, •bankrupt. She answers to the test by coming to his relief arid assuring him that her love is strong enough to sustain him in his hour of need, arid that she is willing to endure any tiling for his sake. , Some scenic films, Topicals, and ] some amusing comedies complete this series, and in addition there will be screened the third part of that. fascinating serial, "Trey <o' Hearts." This film needs no recommendation. All those who have seen the nrstym*.'nd second parts are anxiously waiting- 'foi---ifr.-- This a*f'-' t%rnoon the- first and- second parts of this serial is, being V screened at 'the matinee. Takaka will be visited to-night.
