THREATENED STRIKE. POSITION STILL CRITICAL. ' (Rec. July 15^-2.10 -p.m.;) ■ LGNDON, uly 14. J The executive of the South- Wales miners spent a. whole day in.conference. The decision regarding the strike is-.con-fined to socialists who are influential but represent a small minority. The men in some collieries threaten to strike whatever the leaders decide. Mr Clem Edwards ia an ..urgent appeal to the miners not ...to .strike said that coal, was, the very life, blood of the fleet. He believes 'they have a legitimate grievance and.that .-many coalowners are uni'easonable> but., the ..South Wales sacrifice of material interests was nothing compared to .the; sacrifice made by the soldiers who had; given, their lives and limbs. If the ariners. did .not stop the coal supply many. of us are, prepared to help remedy their grievances even to the extent of urging the Government to take over the mines.
