MAITAI LANDS POLL
ALL PROPOSALS CARRIED
BY SWEEPING MAJORITIES.
Each of the, three issues placed before the ratepayers yesterday in. respect of acquiring land in the Maitac for recreation purposes was carried by an overwhelming majority. The acquiring of the I's-acre block the most ambitious of the proposals, was favoured by 620 voters, and opposed by only 194. Denne's Hole proposal was carried by 641 to 177, and Big Hole by 645 to 172. The poll was' taken by the City Council in order to ascertain if lit was the ratepayers' wish that the Council should proceed under the Public Works Act, 1908, to acquire anj", or all, of the arc-as submitted for decision; and the Council now "having (received a direct mandate, will push on with the matter without delay. _ Detarils of yesterday's voting are as follows : NO. 1 PROPOSAL (15-acre Block.)
