■(United -piiEss Association.) . WELLINGTON', TJiis Day. The Labour' Congress to-d&y' Was" attended .by the Labour M's.P., who gave short addresses. A motion asjcimr the Congress to discuss the matter of tlid refusal of' Mr Justice Stringer to give preference to unions which went on istriko, was carried. On the motion of the Auckland General Labourers' Union it was decided to emphatically protest against the action of the various new arbitration unions ah closing their books against legitimate workers, thus nullifying: the ■ mauii principle of the Arbitration Adt. The Conference was of opinion that this action was supported by the Government. A motion in favour of daylight baking was carried unanimously, Tho committee appointed to. report on 'foodstuffs and their exploitation recommended that the Congress enters an emphatic protest against the continued and increasing exploitation which wag more dangerous and inexcusable at. this time of national crisis, also tho inactivity and incompetence of the Government to protect our people merits thd severest censure. The recommendation was adopted. ' '
