Kathleen Barry appeared, to -answer the following -charges:—(l) That she did on or about the 14th December, 1914 at Stoke, while postmistress and in charge of. the Stoke post office savings banK., commit forgery of a withdrawal receipt in a'savings bank warrant tor the sum of £4O by- writing the name of H-. n. Langley Adams ■ thereon, which document was intended by the said , Kathleen Barry to be an acknowledgment by the said E. H. Langley Adams of the receipt of the said sum. from hctr savings bank acount at the Nelson po.t office • (2) did on or about 14th da> of December, 1914, at Stoke post, mistress and in charge of the btoke •oosit; office, savings bank commit forgery fcv a withdrawal receipt on a savings bank warrant for .the sunr of £24_ by writing the name of .Charlie Stone thereon, which document was by the' said Kathleen Barry. to be + understood to be an acknowledgment by the said Charlie Stone of -the receipt of the said sum from this bank account at the Nelson post office (A) did on or about the 26th day of February 1914, at .Stoke, while a postSSess at the Stoke post office having received the sum of £ls from Maurice Martin Giblin on terms requiring hex-to, account for the same to the Chief-Post--5222 at Nelson did fraudulently omit to account for the tame and did thereby commit theft;.(4) did a On or -abcmt the 3rd day of October 1914, at Stoke whilf postmistress at the Stoke post Xce, Wng received the sum of £ls in money from Henry William Oakley on terms requiring her to account for &*S£e to the Chief-Postmaster at Nelson, did fraudulently omit to a* Count for the eame and commit theft; (5) did on or about itoe 14th day of December 1914 while postm'stress y in chargo of the Stoke Pg office savings bank, having received the sfm from the OlSef-Pcrtmartg at Nelson on terms quiring her to pay the same -to one Charlie Stone, did Fraudulently omit to pay the«»\g£ did thereby commit theft, all being indictable offences. , ■Mr J P- Haves appeared, for the ac. cusde and asked for an adjournment till Monday, which was granted. Bail was allowed accused in £IOO and two sureties of £SO each, and one of £IOO.
