HASTINGS, June 18. The Hawke's Bay Jockey Club's winter meeting opened to-day in splendid weather. The course was in excellent condition, and, although. ■' there; were many spills, the jumping was verjf good. Results: — V. : -. Tijne, 3.59. Hawke's Bay Steeplechase : - Soporific 1, The Diver 2, Glenmore 3. Time, 6.38. Whakatu Hack Hurdles: Doon 1, Hurakia 2, Brunswick 3. Hunt Cup Steeplechase: Bandalero 1, Kirkby 2, Master Webb 3. . Heretaunga Handicap: Ardent 1, Hymettius 2, Beldame 3. Won by half a length. Time, 1.25 . . .
