MONTHLYMEETING. Following is the concluding portion of J the 'business transacted at yesterday's 1 monthly meeting of the Waimea City I Council:— | Mr W. G. Douglas, Wakefield, pro- I tested against the manner in which the j properties on the Arthur Estate were J rated.—Writer to 'be informed that the I Council under the Hating Act had no • power to alter the values, but would I press on the Valuation Department to ! have a revaluation of the County made \ as soon as possible. \ Ms W. J. Travis, Ru<by Bay, re push- ' irfg on with the Motueka-Mapua main road. —Writer to be informed that the question of the road route was now under consideration 'by the Public Works Department. Mr F. E. Nottage, on behalf of Mill. R. Duncan, asked permission to close "Paper Road" 'between sections 103 and 106 Tasman, and to fence same.—Left to Engineer. The chairman, Dovedale Road Board, j asked for use of Council's I'oad ma- j chine for a few days.—Granted on usual conditions. The Borough Clerk, Motueka, intimated that the Council had passed a resolution that the question of the upkeep of 'Motueka Bridge should be referred to a commission. GENERAL. It was resolved that no further steps be taken at present to purchase land at Applefoy Bridge to give access to gravel pit. On the motion of Cr Best, it was reisolved that the Engineer inspect the. bridge near Dr Andrew's residence at Stoke, and that, if found necessary, a new bridge be erected. Oh. the -motion of Gr Hewetson, it was resolved to gravel the approach to Harrison's road, Lower Moutere. On the motion of 'Cr Macmahon, it was resolved that She Engineer prepare an estimate for a hridge over Bfandy Creek, Dovedale. On the motion of Or Macmahon, ffl was resolved that a dangerous point on the Clark Valley Hill road 'be cut off 3 and that the bridges throughout the county, where necessary, be sanded cfaring the winter months.. ... " ■On the chairman's motion it ivas rew solved that the Engineer inspect and xe« port on the condition of a'bridge near where the main road at Motueka-meets the Ngatimoti road. - '••'»•.. v-m the motion of Cr Ttranicliffe it •was resolved to clear gorse from tho Foxcemetery road."
