NELSON POULTRY ASSOCIATION

A general meeting "1 the Nelson Poult iv Assoeiation was held at Mercer's rooms 'last evening there being a good attendance. In the absence of the President (Mr H. Baigcnl). Mr Frank Coleman, a vice-president, was voted to the chair. A resolution of sympathy with the President in the illness of his wife was car:icd. Correspondence from various oiurces was read. It was reported that Pietou had joined the New Zealand Championship Association.

The secretary's action in replying to a communication* from the Championship Association was endorsed. Mr J. Currie, of Wellington, was appointed to judge poultry at the forthcoming show, and Mr Stairmand. of Wellington. to judge pigeons and canaries.

It was resolved to hold a three days show, and to arrange, Wellington and Picton birds by Saturday's boat. It was resolved to put classes for cats on the schedule for next show. Correspondence was received from Mr T. A. 11. Field. M.P., with regard to the deputation which waited upon him in December on the feed question. It | was reported that the Government was selling damaged imported wheat in Wellington for fowl feed. Members exDiessed the opinion that, as the Nelson Poultrv Association had been first in the field with a request to the Government for Canadian wheat, and the Association had agreed in December last to take 100 sacks of anv wheat that might be rejected for milling, the Agricultural Department was not treating them .fairly if the wheat was being sold in Wellington. The secreta-y stated that Mr Field was already writing to the Minister in a similar strain. A cup was donated bv Mr R. T. Bland, and was allotted to Black Red Old English Game. The donor was ihanked.
