MASTERTON RAM FAIR.

MASTERTON, Feb. 18.

The annual ram fair under the auspices of the Masterton Agricultural, and Pastoral Association opened to-day, when stud and flock Romneys were offered. The highest price obtained *,vv\aa 61gs for a ram sold on account of : Mr'. W. Perry. Flock rams went as high as 15gs.

TIMARU, Feb. 18. At the third wool sale of the Beason to-day 3460 bales were offered and 3290 sold. The wools comprised a large pro* portion of dingy, sandy, and neavyconditioned, and 80 per cent of. > fine wools from the back country. The attendance of buyers equalled that at pre- ' • vious sales, and purchases were well distributed. There was an excited _ demand for coarse crossbred for army purposes, which advanced Id to 2d. Halrbreds sold at par to £d belter. Merinos,met with fair inquiry at a parity with London prices. Scoured elicited keen bidding, and realised T7£ for crossbred to 20£ d for halfbred.
