TOBACCO FOR OUR SOLDIERS
THE "MAIL" FUND. The "Mail" tobacco scheme is a little effort to show in a personal way our admiration for those at the front. Did you read that thrilling story the other day about the British soldier who dashed back- into the trenches for his beloved pipe? Not even the stinging shrapnel nor the wkistling bullets of the enemy could separate him from his consolation ! Maybe, too, the pipe was empty. There are many empty pipes out there just now. - There is no end to the humour of Tommy Atkins. One of the "Times" correspondents describes how he stopped to sympathise with a wounded soldier on the roadside near Mons. Asking if his injury was very painful, he received the reply: "Oh, it's not that, but I'm blessed if I haven't lost my pipe in the last charge." •Every sixpence will buy 50 Cigarettes. 2 Oz. Tobacco. . Additional subscriptions are acknow-
