THRILLING AERIAL BATTLE
, BRILLIANT FRENCH VICTORY. (Received Feb. -15', 9.15 a.m.) | PARIS, February 14. •. It ; is seiri-officially stated that a French aviator, with a machine gunner, chased a Taube aeroplane. After a minute's hot filing the Taube fell in flames, with the wings torn to ribbons. Tne Frenchman then attacked two other aex-oplanes. The .first shot struck one, and the Frenchman; bore down on it firing - incessantly. - Suddenly the second Taube fell like a stone. The Frenchman rose 1500* metres and . engaged the third aeroplane. ' - The latter replied with an automatic rifle, but began falling, and after a minute tilted .its left wing. The Frenchman volplaned, firing ■ continually, and the". German dashed to {the ground. . The French_ machine was bombarded with shells, but returned to I the French lines safely.
