DRAPERY STOCK DAMAGED

WELLINGTON, Jan. 12.
A fire was discovered just before 10 o'clock to-night in. the upper floor of a two-storey wooden building in Cubastreet occupied by Duncan and Mackintosh, drapers.- The brigade's prompt arrival confined the flames to the stock room in which they started, but considerable damage, was done-.to the contents on the ground floor. The building was owned by Charles Pa-lliser, and was insured in' the Atlas office for £2OOO. Duncan and Macintosh had insurances on stock, etc., of £2OOO in the Atlas office and £2050" in 'the Alliance. The tactual damage to the stock could not be ■estimated to-night; "but it is believed to 'be considerable. . ... r .... . .
