SERIES OF CHARGES
(United Piiesi. Association.) TIMAR.U, Jan. 11. The ypvith named: Birch, a Burnham already committed for trial .for a murderous assault on his employer, O'Connell, at Clandeboye, on November 7th, was before the Magistrate to-day on five charges of forging O'Connell's name to cheques and uttering the cheques to Temuka storekeepers. The total amount involved was £515 10s. He was also charged with the theft of various articles and money of a total value of £5 10s, the property of O'Connell; also \ylth the theft of a bicycle valued at, £9. at Mit-cham .on " August 12th, and with breaking and entering a dwelling at Mitcham on .the sanift date , and stealing a and • chain and £4 15s in cash. The accused was committed for'trial.
