SULTAN OF EGYPT
PRAISE FOR THE AUSTRALASIANS. - ( • CAIRO, Dec. 21. Prince Hussein, in a newspaper interview, said he hoped that in futuro the Egyptians would hasten to defend the country as readily as the splendid troops whom'they had "a daily opportunity of admiring at Heliopolis had done. Prince Hussein replied to tho King's address as follows: —"I desire to express to your Majesty my deepest gratitude for the* friendly -sentiments with which you have been graciously pleased to honour] me ; and also, for the valuable support of j which you have assured me in safeguarding the integrity and independence of Egypt. Ti..» 'Daily Telegraph's" Cairo correspondent writes that the New Zealand troops are splendid material, and their keenness is unmatched. Imperial officers are surprised at the excellent condition of the New Zealand horses. No British cavalry regiment could have brought them out better. EXEMPLARY BEHAVIOUR OF THE TROOPS.
