SCHOOL" CONCERT

The annual cdricert and distribution of prizes in connection with the Richmond School was held on Wednesday evening, at which, there was a crowded attendance. Mr F. W. Smith, Chairman of the Education Board, presided, and in his remarks referred to the good record of the school for many years past> aiid appealed to the parents for their practical co-operation to ensure the continued siic!cess of their school. A concert progi'aminci mainiy of a, patriotic Mature-} was rendered by the ipupils. During an interval, a presentation of a. marble clock suitably inscribed was made to the bead master, Mr Boyce, by the pupils of the Sixth - Standard, most of whom-, having gained proficiency certificates, will be leaving their primary school work. lr) acknowledging the presentation, Mr Boyce expressed his appreciation of this pleasing token of the .pupils' goodwill towards him.
At, the close of the iprizegiving, Mr Harkness, secretary of the School Committee, moved a vote of thanks to tho staff of the school ,and referred to the successful year just and expressed his gratification at the amicable relations existing among all. connected with the school. The attendance is again very satisfactory,, no less than 27. pupils having'attended full and 32 have been absent not more than five half-days during, the year. On behalf of tho staff, Mr Boyce replied to the kind remarks made by the Chairman and Mr Harkness.
