The Plunket- Society held its monthly meeting on Tuesday afternoon. "1 ho attendance was small, only ten being-pre-sent, and. in the absence of the President, the 1 chair was taken iby- Mrs T. Field. A letter was' redd from Miss Graham, secretary of. tlie Richmond branch, inviting the Nelson Executivo to attend their Annual meeting on Friday, Decern." ber 18tli, in order to see: what arrangements could >be made for periodic visits to Richmond by Nurse Morgans-It was resolved that metmfiei-s,' \fcfto;:"]p«ccufciV'o should attend the meeting' and' discuss the matter with the Richmond members. ■ A letter was read from Mr'Knapp, expressing appreciation .and. thanks for the lectures given to the girls of the Central School, aucl asking that Nurse' Morgan should give a further series of monthly lectures to the new VI. Standard. —IvCf solved that the proposal be accepted, and arrangements inado accordingly. An extract from the bulletin issued by the U.S.A. Government, Washington, was then read, speaking very highly of the work don© by the Now Zealand , Plunket .Society, to which the bulletin was mainly devoted. Nurse Morgan's report for the month showed that the room had been well 'attended, 137 visits having been paid altd 52 received. There are now 164' oases on the books, and 146 under treatment. On December Ist Nurse Morgan visited Motueka, where she held two meetings.; one was also held at Happy Valley. Nurse Morgan is now away on a well-earned month's holiday.
After a good deal of discussion, the following resolution was passed unanimously: —"That in cases where mothers persistently neglect or refuse to carry out the nurse's instructions, she is quite justi- , fied in refusing to visit them any longer." This resolution was passed in consequence of a case reported by 'Nurse Mor gan, where tlio mother persisted in the use of the long tube feeder, on account of which Nurse Morgan discontinued her . visits. Tlio 'Executive was authorised to mako arrangements for a telephono at tho Society's rooms. Mrs Dickson, Cambriastreet, was nominated as a. member of tho committee.
