Alexander, wrecked on a root on an uninhabited island in the Tonga group on September 28th. All were landed safely. Captain Lorensen and four men endeavoured to reach Suva. After five da\s thev reached Ma go Island, covering 290 miles. From Mago Island they were taken to .Suva. The others remained on the island for 26 days. There was no fresh water. They were plagued with thousands of rats. Eventually the Tofua rescued them on October 24th.
