Co., Ltd., report under date August 13, as follows: —War conditions make it impossible to give market values with any certainty, and priced tan only be taken to 'be nominal and subject to fluctuation. The demand for anything in the shape of luxuries has fallen off considerably, turkeys, for instance, being almost unsaleable. . Potatoes.—The market is firmer, and the demand good ; Southern offerings are large, but holders are not inclined to sell at late rates. Seed Potatoes are in fair demand, and we can offer all leading varieties. Porkers.—The demand continues good, and supplies are short. Baroners meet with 'keen inquiry at proportionate rates. Slag andi super, orders continue to come to handr. and our ncAt shipment, which is practically sold out, is due about end of the month. Wheat.—The marklet is very firm at ruling rates, an'/ j Southern holders are not inclined I'. sell even at the present price. .Seo«S Algerians.—The inquiry is fair, and \vc. can some nice samples at market rates. Chaff. —The demand is keer. ■ owing to large Defence Force orders, the price has hardened, but we do not anticipate higher valves. Vegetables.— Choice cauliflowers and cabbages are scarce, and meet with keen competition at record prices. Fruit. —Choice cock ing aucl dessert apples are in fair a.(-. inand at market rates.
