BRANCH- FORMED' AT TAPA- - wera. ■ ; A meeting of supporters of "the Government was held at Tapawera evening. Mr Geo. Macnialion presided, and among a largo attendance were- jMr R. P. Hudson, Govornmont candidate for the Motueka seat, and MrA-; A. Paape, organiser of the Reform larty, Mr R-. P. Hudson, tho Reform,, . candidate for the : Motuctav seat,, addressed the meeting., He said lie was going to the poll 'because ho had tho honour >of being chosen from fivo good -men. Touching l on personal matters, ho went on to say .that he firsVcamctp New Zealand from''Ceylon ten years ago, and after looking into tho genoral conditions of the country ho went Home for a. short visit, and then returned t» «cw . Zealand for the benefit of his children. After being nearly a year in Wellington he went to Motueka, in tending to stay only a month, but after scoing the conditions of life decided to setfclo tliero —a course which ho had never regretted. Tie came to New Zealand with an open and unbiassed mind, and had gradually hub surely been drawn to ,tho then Opposition party. Tlio more ho came in touch with Mr Massey and Ins party the more lie felt thev were jliionost .men. Doalingmoro particularly'with tho fruit- industry ho referred to the practical proof given by Mr Massey of his interest in its development by authorising advances up to £3OOO for tho establishment of cool storage. The speaker also made reference to other branches of agricultural industry, and said that New Zealand ■ must stand or fall by tho products of its ■ soil. Mr Hudson also touched on other political questions as reported "hr his recent Motueka speech, and' was loudly applauded as 3ie made tolling points against tho 'Opposition. > Mr W. B.
