NAVAL DEFENCE
AND THE FARMERS" UXIOX. (United Press Association.) AUCKLAND. May 21. The question of naval deienee was discussed at some length at the farmers Union Conference this morning, when the provincial executive submitted the following remit:—"That this conference, while reafiirming the position that New Zealand should contribute its fair share towards the defence of the Empire, is of the opinion that the proposed change of policy is such an all important matter, and fraught with such serious and !arreaching " results, that the Dominion ■ should not finally be committed until the matter has been more fully discussed." After a lengthy discussion, the remit was carried unanimously amid applause.
