Advices from Manaos, m Brazil state that Mr Roosevelt's expedition collected 2100 natural history specimens, many of them previously unknown. A new river 1000 miles long was discovered. It was hithertc; unknown, although the mouth was known to a few rubber hunters. The river is largely unnavigable owing to rapids. • The expedition spent OJ days in canoes, averaging two miles daily. One man was drowned in rapids and Mr "Roosevelt and. his son Kermet had a narrow escape. Another member ot the expedition went mad. murdered a comrailc, and fled into the wilderness.
