~. A number of Texas R-ingers from Austin crossed the Mexican boundary and disinterred the body of Clement Vergera, a Texan rancher, who was lured into Mexico by Federal soldiers. They brought the body back to American soil. ■„ ,

Examination of Vergara's body sh</ws that a blow with a rifle butt crushed his skull. There was a gunshot wound in the head, and his ne.k. was mutilated. A burned hand indicated torture before 'death. Men believed that Texas rangers restored the body to the grave again. Commandant ranger? denied that the. men participated.
