Interviewed on the subject of land S(-.ttlemen:, Mr Ma.-,sey .'aid that the number > f selectors of land fev the year ending 31st December, was 2143. and the area selected 677.910 acres. During th-.' financial year up to the end of last month, the Government had pun based 140.692 acres for £559.606 under the Land for Settlement Finance Act. During the present financial vear they had sealed 4182 acres at a cost of £58,729, and would place thereon 28 settlers. Mr Massey added that a Land Rill would be brought down next session. He could not say the lines on which it would go, except that it would be designed to faiilitate putting people on the land.
