DUNEDIN, This Day. _ At the' Methodist Conference, the Rev. W. Slade was appointed foreign mission secretary, the Rev. L. Hudson to supply for the present year. ' > i The Social Service - Union, held its, annual meeting. ' The Rev:' S. J. Serfell was eleoted president, Rev. E. Drake secretary, and Rev. M. A. RugbyPratt editor of-union publications. The order m which certain circuits are to receive; probationers was fixed as follows: — Waiiiku, Waimate,' Gisborne, Fielding,.' Taumarunui, Havelock South, Auckland, Westport, Albert, Kaitangata. The report of the Theological College was received, and the principal and Mrs ■ Garland were thanked for their services.The report relating to the new theologica linstitution was received. The' first draft of stations tfor home missionaries was presented, and discussion deferred until the afternoon. A deputation ■ from the Presbyterian Church waited upon the conference, the Rev. J. Chisholm conveyed greetings' from his denomination in a graceful fraternal speech, which was cordially supported by Professor Dickie and Professor Watt. .*....-,..
