ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
SAD SUICIDE. (Unitbd Pbess Association.) AUCKLAND, March 3 A wbman named McLeod was found dead in bed at her residence in Wakefield street this morning She was married, but had been living apart from her husband A man named Woods was residing in the same house with her When he awoke at 4.30 o'clock this morning he found that Mrs McLeod was dead, evidently ae the result of having taken poison He reported the matter to the police An inquest was held before Mr Cutten, Coroner William Reuben Woods said that he -came home at about 9.30 last night slightly under the influence of liquor The woman McLeod did hot go to bed At about 10 o'clock she went out, and brought in a constable He did not know why the constable came, or how long he stayed He went to sleep shortly afterwards, and did not wake until 4.30 a.m. He saw deceased lying on the floor and found that she was dead. He summoned the police. A constable stated that- he was called in last night by McLeod, who alleged that her "husband" was "rowing" with her. Dr Casemant- Aickin said, that death was due to poison. There were two •bruises on the body, one on the hip, and one on the arm. j The jury returned a verdict of death from p"oison, taken while mentally depressed. A FARMER SHOOTS HIMSELF ASHBURTON, MaTch 3 The body of a single man named ! Frederick William Frampton, 23 years of age, a farmer at Willow by, was found 1 beneath an apple' tree in an orchard near his residence late yesterday afternoon : A double-barrelled gun was lying beside the body, and there was a wound in the man's left breast It was evidently the cause of death. At the inquest this morning the coroner returned a verdict of suicide while temporarily insane. . ®
