LONDON WOOL SALES. (United Pres3 Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Department ol Agriculture "has received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner, dated London, March 3. regarding the opening of the second series of colonial wool sales:— The wool sales commenced with a large attendance of buyers, and competition is great. Arrerieans buying freely. The market is very strong, Merinos average and Crcssbreds Id above the closing rates of last sales. Some 60,200 bales of New Zealand wool was catalogued. WELLINGTON WOOL SALES. WELLINGTON, This Day. The New Zealand Loan .and Mercantile Agency Co. report : —Under the auspices of the Wellington Woolbrokers' Association, the fourth wool sale of the season took place to-day, Avhen the combined' catalogues totalled roundly 65C0 bales. ! This is a b'ig offering for a March sale, and some 3450 bales more than were offered in the same sale last season. There was a large attendance of buyers, representing all sections of the trade. As anticipated there keen competition at an advance on February rates of -|d per lb on coarse and medium woools. ambs' wool was well competed for at prices par to id per lb higher, whilst skirtings sold at id to better. The wool offered- was mostly of inferior quality, : either heavy in grease or carrying much j bidibidi, the latter being especially no- I ticeable in many of the smaller 1 ot.« \ of lambs' wools. Although the bulk of our catalogue of 1065 bales was of the above description we offered several clips of exceptionally good quality both of fleece and lambs, and these excellent prices were obtained, viz., up to Hid for medium crossbred and llgd for good lambs'. Owing to the number of clips that did not arrive in time for the present sales, it was arranged with the buyers toehold a supplementary sale on FTidav, 20th inst., when it is anticipated that a fair catalogue will be submitted.
