Sawyer, a former employee of Lipton's, gave evidence at Bow Street in the canteeii case that money was promised to the quartermasters of the Royal Welsh Fusiliers and Royal Scots Fusiliers. who suggested that the firm "Would be able to supply" tlie canteens with margarine, which gave a good return,

Sawyer said it was always the 1 case that Lipton's were forced to do" what other contractors did. They lost several 'Salisbury Plain contracts because they refused to give as much as others. .
