A meeting of those interested in the formation of a (Jolt ( lub in Motuekti. was held on Thursday last in the Bank Chambers.

Mr McKee was voted to preside over a gathering' of some thirty ladies and gentlemen. In putting the matter beiore the ineetins, Air stated that the formation of a Golf Club had been discussed for some time, but i-t was only during the last fortnight that the matter had taken a concrete form. '1 he question of a site suitable ior a course had been a difficulty, but -Mi Marnier and himself had interviewed .Mr Parker re the lease of the property known as Parker's Island, situated about a mile out of the town. This propertv, consisting of eome 84 acres, was procurable at a rental of £5 per annum with a purchasing clause, and would be suitable for a nine hole course, and eventually, "with some clearing, v.ouid accommodate a- course of 18 holes. e chairman was of the opinion that, with this land at the public's disposal, every effort should be made towards the formation of a local golf s;\ub.. Mr R. W. Percy moveo, and Mr V\ . Nicholson seconded, that a Golf Club be formed, to be known as the "Motueka Golf Club." It was resolved that the agreement, made with Mr Parker by Messrs McKee, Mander, and Nicholson, be approved. . . The. election of officers resulted as follows :—President, Mr \Y. H. Mander; vice-president, Mr P. R. Hudson; club captain. I)r Horrnx : secretary and treasurer, Mr C". W. Thorp : committee, Messrs Percy. Nicholson. Llr.s, A. -\ianov, and de Castro. Tt was a recommendation to the committee that the subscription should not exceed £2 2s for gentlemen. and jgx l.s for ladies. liesol vpfl. that tno nnnual subscriptions-be paid not later than March 31st. Thirtv-one members woiv enrolled. Preliminary arrangements were left to the committee. A vote of thanks to Mr \V. H. an ' del*, for the use of the Bank Chambei to Mrs Percy for the interest K v lier in the movement, and to the chanman, brought the meeting to a close.
