QUEEN'S GARDENS NOTICE BOARDS, v
The question of the keep-off-the-gr&ss notices in the Queen's Gardens was brought,up at the City Council meeting last evening, Cr. Webley moving that the notices :be removed, and the public given free use of the grounds. v In seconding the motion, Cr. Bishop said he thought the Council hajd-ordered,, the notices to .be removed tiiiie ago. He could not seewhypeoplewera ordered out of the Garden^at; Lamps could be put iii and the" Gardens illuminated. It ridiculous to--Keep people off the 'grass, It HvbUld ;bej.be|ti£i? for the grass if it- was .waited on., ' Cr. Piper 'was opposed to the removal of the notices. If they were Temoved people, instead 'ct walking on *,the asphalt, would walk along the grass.': . Cr. Hampson raised a. point of ordef that if there was opposition the motion could not bei taken. ;
The objection was /upheld by tho Mayor, arid Cv. Webley said he, would give. notice of motion on the' subject;
