BRITISH POLICEMEN AND UNIONS

LONDON, Dec. 22. At a mass meeting attended by thousands of police at Trafalgar Square in support of the Metropolitan Police Union, the speakers declared that 9b per cent were favourable to the union. The constables' wage of 27s a weetv was inadequate to prevent corruption, and tyranny was being exercised in the force to an extent- not realised by the public. They invited the support of all trade unions. The police membership totals 5000.
