STOKE. ROAD BOARD. The monthly meeting of the Stoke Road Board was held on Saturday last. Present : Messrs J. E. Bartlett (acting-chair-man), T. B. Chisnall, A. G. Best, and A. P. Allport. .Apologies for absence were received 'rum the chairman (Mr. W. Coleman), nd Mr. John Best. The overseer's report which was read wd adopted, stated that the work done in the Stoke district comprised t'he repairing of bad places in Poor Man's Valley. This road required a week's .•arting to fill in ruts. Watertables had
been ploughed out at Englebrecht's road, ind the material carted awav. pne day's work had been done on Orphanage road, which required pati 'i tr_r. Repairs had ilso been done to the back road, and to Wells' bank. Wells' road, with the exo?ption of putting in a snail culvert, was almost finished. Sixty loads of gravel would be required to repair the .back voad between Royal's corner and Chislall's corner. Members for the district ind the overseer met Mr. A. Bry-ui Morris in connection with piece of "unused land on road leading to Mr Englebrecht's. Mr. Morris agreed to fence the land and pay a rental of 5s per annum. In Appleby and Hope districts ruts had been raked in on Cathphell's road; and stones broken in Church, McShain's, and Bell's roads.
The Receiver of Land Revenue noticed that £1 16s sd, amount of road halves, thirds and fourths, had been alaced to the credit of the Board. The -Clerk of the Waimea County Council advised that £75 8s 9d, being 75 per cent, of Government subsidy on ".912-1913 rate, had: been lodged to the redit of the Board.
On tihe motion of Mr. Allport, seconded by Mi*. A. G. Best, it was resolved hat Mr. Mason be interviewed by the neir-bers of the district and the overseer with regard to the Harley Terrace road 'I itch. Accounts amounting to £59 16s 3d were passed for payment.
SUBURBAN NORTH. ROAD' BOARD. The usual monthly meeting of the huburban North Road Board was held on Friday last at the Foresters' HalL Present: Messrs W. H. Alborough (chairman), A. Dodson, John Corder, T. W. Anderson, J. E. Packer, aud E. W. Frost. '
Accounts were nassed for payment xmounting to £64 5s sd.
The overseer's report wa-s read and idopted. A letter was received from the Town v . thanking the Board for its conuibution of £3 3s in connection wit/h the -•ntertainment of the crew of H.M S Vew Zealand. .
A iremorajidum was received from the Clerk of the Waimea County Council, kJvising the Board of the payment of £J62 10s -to the Board's credit at the oank.
A memorandum was received from the Receiver of La.nds Revenue, informing the Board of the payment of £39 9s 3d o the Board's credit at the Bank of New south Wales.
It was resolved (Messrs Carder and .. acker) that a refund of land thirds accrued from sections 10-1-2, in block ii., lapamutu, airountinij to £ls Is 2d, be naid over to the Wairhea County Council or expenditure ori the road leading to •-be property. * ( r . fc T that the clerk write t; ; Jlr.
