FOOTBALL
NELSON RUGBY UNION. A meeting o'f the management committee of the. Rugby Union was held; last night in Stallard's rooms, when there was a full attendance of delegates present. A Letter was .recc'ived Ifrom. Marlborough re this year's {representative fixture between the two unions.
Very satisfactory entries were received for the senior seven-a-side tournament for the Littlejohn Shield, and the third-class tournament for the Harper Shield, to be held on June 3rd. The tournaments are being held in connection with the Hockey Association's six-a-side tournament, and a splendid programme for the day has been drawn up. The use of the Botancal Reserve has been granted by the Council for the holding of the combined tournament. Tn the morning the ladies' six-a-side and the third-class seven-a-side will be played, and in the afternoon the senior hockev six-a-side and the senior football seven-a-side will be held. These competitions, both in football and hockey, always provide fast and exciting games, and .'patrons of both branches of sport will have the rare opportunity of witnessing alternately the best teams of both games in action. It is anticipated that there will be a record attendance of spectators at the Botanical Reserve next Tuesday. It was decided to, if possible, provide seating accommodation for ladies.
