JOURNALISTS' DISPUTE

CHRISTCHURCH, March 19. Before the Conciliation Court the journalists' dispute was resumed. The union's demands affecting readers were withdrawn. Cadet reporters' salaries were agreed to as follo'ws:—First year 20s, second- 30s, third 40s. An adjonrment till April 10th was agreed to, in order that the ''questions of hours and preference might be considered.

The Arbitration Court granted the Gas Employees' Union permission . to present claims for increased wages- to the Wages Board, . Mr C'armichael giving an undertaking- that -the interests, of the general public would be protected in i any award.
