A strange murder trial, with a man who said he had lost 'hie soul as the prisoner, is proceeding at Yorton, Saskatchewan. The accused Trail is John Aurisczuk, a. Ruthenian. 1 The murdered man was a n Orthodox Greek priest named Czernowski, who had _ three churches under his charge in the district of Goodeve, and worked during the week a farmer. The widow stated at the trial that about a couple of years ago Aurisczuk cam® to her home and demanded the return of his soul- from her husband. The pastor replied that he had not got it, and Aurisczuk declared that he had. "I can't pray," hte said. "You have taken my soul from me, and I can't pray." He vowed that the priest's family would have cause to TUe it if he did not get his soul back. The mutilated body of the priest was found, on the railway a short distance from Goodeve. The head was lying on otie side of the track, the trunk in the centre, and. the legs on the other side. The theory of the police is that Czernowski was murdered, and to cover up the crime his body was placed in the track. The spot where it is supposed the fatal struggle took place was discovered at the time, and the actions of the prisoner, both before and after the crime was committed, led to his apprehension. As the law is at present there appears to be no reason why a man should not be married every year of his life, provided that he marries the same woman every time. There is nothing to pi-e----vent people being married in one church one day and in another 24 hours later if -they so please. This state of, affairs was regarded by the Methodist Conference the ether evening, says the "Times," with misgiving, and it unanimously passed the following motion by the Rev. H. L. Blamires: "That the committee of privileges take into consideration -the abuses likely to arise from the provision of the Marriage Act which permits parties to obtain two licenses from the registrar, allowing the ceremony to be performed' in two distinct buildings at different periods."
