CORRESPONDENCE
HOP-PICKING HOLIDAYS,
(To the Editor.)
Sir.—Please grant me a small space in your valuable paper. 1 wonder what our School Committee is thinking about. I, along with many, voted in favour of the schools closing during hop-picking holidays. Now, sir, hop-picking is infull swing. Hundreds are picking at both Motueka and in the country districts. The schools, I understand, are not to close until the 28th, ten days hence. Whv. all the bins at the gardens will be 'taken up. and the growers like their pickers to start at the opening dav. 1 think the schools should be closed now, and not wait till the best ot the picking and gocd weather are over, as the majority of the parents voted in favour of the schools closing at hoppicking time. Hoping some abler pen will take this up. 1 am,
