FIRES
COTTAGE DESTROYED AT GORE. (Onitbd Press Association.) GORE, This Day. A five-roomed house in a street off Devon-street, owned by Mrs Graham, and occupied by W. Wilson, was destroyed by fire * last night. Practically nothing was saved. The insurances are £2OO on the house in the Northern office, and £IOO on the furniture in the Victoria office. WELLINGTON JOINERY FACTORY DESTROYED. WELLINGTON, This Day. Udlin's timber mill and joinery department in Taranaki-street were badly damaged by fire this morning. When the brigade arrived the flames were bursting through the joinery department. There was no wind, and the fire was confined to that department. The loss is estimated at £2OOO. There was no insurance. OUTBREAK A 8 WESTPORT. ' WESTPORT, This Day. A fire occurred in the back premises of McElwee and Co.'s boot store this morning. The outbreak was speedily suppressed, but a considerable amount of damage was done to the boo-t stock by smoke and water.
