DISIRICT NEWS
STOKE. A largely-attended meeting of residents of Stoke was held at the Public Hall on Monday evening for the purpose of assisting the management committee in working up the Horticultural and Industrial Exhibition, to be- held in April. Mr. A. P. Allport occupied tho chair. It was reported that rough schedules of tho show had already been distributed throughout the district, and many offer© of support had been received. Messrs A. P. Allport, Mitchell, Black, Jellyman and Izard were appointed a schedule committee. Mr. J. Biggar was appointed to canvass the district for financial support and "entries. The sum of £l4 for prizes was promised by those in the room. Judges for the show were selected. The secretary (Mr D. H. WilmotJ was instructed, to writ© and ascertain if they would act. There can be no doubt that the exhibition will be a great success, much interest being' by the residents. •< The meeting adjourned until Monday, March 3rd, • when it is hoped there .•will be a large attendance. 1 SCHOOL PICNIC. The annual picnic in connection with the Stoke and , Tahun a Schools wiU'.!b6 held at Poor Man's Valley on Saturday next. The children and others,Tvill be driven in conveyances, leaving 'the Stoke School at 9.30 a.m. : '7
