At the Supreme Court a decree nisi was granted Hugh Cameron McLean v. Pauline McLeaii on the ground of desertion. AUCKLAND, This Day.

Afc the Supreme Court a young man named Lewis Weeks Byron was charged "-with indieiceftitly assauized a small boy and was sentenced to ten years' imprisonment and a further ten years' reformative treatment. Mr. Justice Edwards referred to a previous sentence of four years served by the prisoner for a similar offence, and said that he was the worst possible menace to society. 'A wild beast would be an infinitely less* menace to society. John O'Brien, charged with having wounded John Peter Smith with intent to do grievous bodily harm, by stabbing him with a knife in the breast and leg. was sentenced to three years. The judge remarked that the prisoner was fortunate in not being cliai'ged with murder.
