FATAL ASSAULT
DEATH OF OONSTABDE DOYLE. (Unitbd Pbess Association.) PALMERSTON N., This Day. Constable Doyle, who was admitted to the Palmerston Hospital on Monday, suffering from a broken leg and facial abrasions,'the result of an assault made upon him at Shannon last Saturday, died at 5.30 this morning. Deceased was notaltogether a strong man, and was on sick leave for a time last September. He was about 35 years of age, and was married. He leaves a widow and two children, who reside in Auckland. A man named McDonald, who was arrested on Mondayj was remanded yesterday for a week.
