The Bur wood wheelers will resume, pending consideration of their claims under the Arbitration Act. The Employers" Federation consequently granted the miners' request for a. conference. The miners Have abandoned, the proposed aggregate meeting. It is reported that some of the Burwood miners are oposed to resuming unless the wheelers join the Employees' Federation. If sncti a condition is forced upon the whi-elers, it-will cause a hitch. It is not anticipated that a hitch will result in connection with Burwood. Apprehension, however, has been caused by the stoppage at the Pelaw Main mine, where a. disagreement with the clippers was no sooner settled than there was trouble with the borers, rendering the colliery idle. FIVE-DAY WEEK. (Received Feb. 5. 11.5 a.m.) ; _ LONDON. Feb. 4. The Northumberland miners' ballot resulted in an 11.000 majority in favour of a five-days week. STRICT "PREFERENCE TO UNIONISTS." The Political Labour League Conference declared for preference to unionists in political matters, and removed from the executive a new member on the ground that he was a non-unionist . A special committee was appointed to inquire into the attitude of the State Federal Labour Parliamentarians regarding Mr Neilsen's resignation; the Shearers' Accommodation Bill; and the Blayhey by-election. MASTER BAKERS IN .CONFERENCE DUNEDIN, This Day. The annual Conference of the United Master Bakers of I\ew Zealand met this morning, under the presidency of Mr W. A. Kellow of Wellington. The proceedings were private. The delegates, to the number of twenty, were welcomed by the Mayor, and afterwards taken for a pleasure trip down the Itaibour.
