SHORTAGE IN PHILIPPINE HEMP

WELLINGTON, Nov. 7
In view of the cabled reports of a tornado doing great damage to the fibre crop in the Philippines, the Agricultural Department asked the British Consul there to furnish a statement as to the extent of the damage. A reply has been Teceivedi stating that the estimated shortage in hemp on acount cf the tornado and the previous drought is 200,000 bales.

Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Wellington, report f—--We held our fortnightly auction sale ibis, afternoon, whan we offered a few bales of wool and a good catalogue of skins, hides and tallow. Competition fcr wool, and especially for .hides, was keen, and prices for these firm at last sale's rates, whilst for sheepskins the con:petition was dull and prices showed a sligiVL decline.

Dalgety and Go., Ltd.. Wellington, have. xeeeived the following cablegra-ro from their London office, dated Ist Noyen, ber : Wool : The market is firm -but quiet. It is;expected that prices will be fully maintained at the next series.
Bradford Tops : We received a furthei cable dated November, giving the Bradford tops to tihe 31st October, as follows 15d; 46's, 16d • .50's, 183 d ; 66's, 58's, 23d ; 60*s, common, 26d ; 60's," super, 26Jd;-64's, 27id; 70's, 28d. There is no change as compared with 10". h October, except 60's conrmon, which are £d higher.

Though the quality is very desirabl?, they are more or less dusty. Some otherwise good clips carry a verv fair-weight of earthy iratter. especially in the backs of the fleeces. A very fair amount of real estate is baing sold with the wool at per lb."
