NELSON HARBOUR BOARD
. MONTHLY MEETING. The following '.business was transacted a.t the monthl'v. meeting of the Nelson ~ Harbour Board" yesterday afternoon alter we went to press: .CORRESPONDENCE. ; With reference to a)' letter from the Nelson Coal Fields, Ltd,, asking for certain .privileges in connection with the working of their lease, the Board agreed to the request.' The 'Harbour Boards' Association forwarded copy of receipts and expenditure for the past 12 months.—Received. A copy of a proposed amendment to the Harbours Bill was also received. THE WESTERN ENTRANCE. The special coormittee's report re the Western Entrance was read and adopted. A scale of freight charges was drawn u,p ; and it was recommended that the extensions to the wharf be done by day labour. It was resolved that a minimum charge of 3d be levied on. parcels. It was resolved to charge ,1s a ton for storage, after the first two days. _An application from Mr. ."Weyergang ,for a grant of £lO a, year to act as wharfinger at the Western Entrance was agreed to. It was also decided to offer the same applicant £1 a year for use ot shed. ORDINARY BUSINESS. The tender of Geoffrey Best (the only" one received) of 30s a year, for firewood on the Board's foreshore at Appleby, was accepted. On Mr. Duncan's rrotion, seconded by Captain MeNa'b, it was decided that the necessary steps be taken to put the dredge on a safe iplace on the mudflat. With .reference to a suggestion -sent bv Mr. Mercer, that the Board place £2OOO with the City Council at call, the Board resolved, after discussion, to hold the matter over for further, inquiries. Mr. Lock gave notice of motion that the'various harbour dues in force be discussed at the next meeting. The Board rose at 3.45 p.m.
