Railway Welter: Tadanga 1. Yarriwr 2, Svlvaiuler 3. Time 1.18. . . Hufrdle Handicap: Warwidgerie . 1, Common Ring 2, Canvasser 3.' Time 3.47. . ~ Melbourne Cup: Piastre (Shanahan) 1, Hallowmas. (Smith) 2, Uncle Sam (La-'.r-bert) 3. The scratehings were : Flavian, Rathlea and Harpist. After a few strides rShiija went- to the front, and le<i past the stand from Cider, Ladies' Man, Eyeglass, Matouree and Hallowmas. Lady Medallist was running last and pulled up., Golden Point ran into -second place, then came Matouree. Danius, Cider and Hallowmas. Cider and Ladies' Man. Wilari, Bridge and iMatouree displaced Golden Point. Duke Foote was in the centre of the field, but well back, with Pia'stere, Uncle Sa-:r, Shiija and Matouree still in the lead. Hallowmas made a fast run, followed by Shuja, round the turn, Piastre ranking at third place, then came Danius, Ladies' Man, and Artesian. Uncle Sam was coming up very fast, ] while Duke Foote was well "beaten. Shuja fell back, and Piastre .and Hallowmas • struggled for supremacy. Piastre drew fawhy and won comfortably by one and ai half length, with Uncle Sam three-quar-V'ters of a length in the rear. Time 3.27 L Ladies' Man was fourth, then followed •Eudorus. Shuja, IMousme, Sandibath, Bobadea, .Golden Point, and Artesian. Flemington Steeplechase : Continuance 1, Bibbenluke 2, Kyaippa 3. Nursery Stakes : Scotch Malt 1. Beck's Lager 2.' Tramontanta 3.
