The Clerk of (the AYjaimea County Council forwarded a resolution passed by his Council requesting that Minister •for Public Works to have prepared for use by all" county councils a standard set of bridge plans from, say, 10 feet to 100 feet spans, which could -be adapted to all classes of bridge work undertaken by ■local bodies.—To be endorsed. Al-essrs Bosselman Bros., Neudorf, ■wrote asking the Council to take steps to have the entrances made to their property at Rosedale as soon as possible.— I Left to Engineer. Mr. Thos. McGaveston, on behalf of settlers, wrote urging that the erection of the Peninsula bridge should be prosecuted at speedily as possible.—Writer to be informed that the work is proceeding as rapidly as funds would permit. Mr C. F. Biggar, Brightwater, wrote drawing attention to the state of the watercourse near his property below Burke's bank.—Left to Engineer. GENERAL. It was resolved, on Cr. Drummond's irotion, to write to the Minister for Public Works in regard to the road between Tadmor and Glenhjpe. Mr Hayes 'waited on the Council on behalf of Mr 'Savage in ' regard to the latter's contract on- the Moutere mudflat road. After the Council declined to" recognise any further liability in the inatter,. as it was considered that all work agreed on had been paid tor. It was resolved to grant the Overseer (Mr Knapp) further leave for a fort-' night, without pay. It was resolved that during the absence of the Overseer the Engineer appoint two inspectors to act under his instructions. It was resolved to erect posts with marks indicating the depth of water on ■the western 6ide of the Appleby bridge: The Council decided to endorse a petition for grants from Wairoa Gorge ratepayers. ; . . . In regard to a petition from Wai-iti ratepayers, it was resolved that the Engineer wait on the petitioners to see what was best to be done. The Chairman drew attention to the inconvenience caused to settlers in the ontlyine parts of the country when a special holiday was declared.
