WAKATU ASSOCIATION.
The Wiikatu fcribbagte Associati-oil held a progressive euchre tournament at the Druids' Hall last evening, as a iviridup to the season. A very enjoyable time was spent by those present, numbering over eighty. An apology for absence was received from Mr G.. H. Campbell, president of the Nelson Association. \ During the evening the President (Mr R. W. Stiles), assisted by the secretary (Mr \V. Bray), presented the prizes won,' and congratulated the Association on the successful season.
Cheers, were giveit foi' the winners and : the donors of trophies, and also for the Nelson Association, Air Macdonaid (vicepresident) replying oh behalf of the latter body. A presentation—a handsome gold watch-guard—was made to Mr Stiles (president) by Mr Bray, on behalf of the Association. Complimentary references to Mr Stiles were made. In replying, the) irec'ijpient japoke of the happy associations he had formed in' connection with the tournaments. Cheers, were given for Mr and Airs Stiles. It was announced that Mr Gaze had offered a guinea trophy for next season. The tournament resulted in M. Batchetor and L. Hockey tieing for the first and second prizes, and in the play off L. Hockey won the first and M. Batchelor the second. There was keen competition' for the "booby prize" between N. King and E. Goodman, the former being the lucky winner of a very unique medal decoration. Cheers were aco'rded the winner.
The prizes woiv diuring thid season were, as follows :
Chanpion shield and medals: Old Navals. j. Second prize. Mi' L. Kerr's trophy : Old Nelson Rifles.
Third prize, Mr R. W. Stiles' trophy Union.
General a-gpregate trophy, Mr T. Mortimore's trophy : Union. Second ri'/p-nd aggregate, association s trophv Old Navals. and eventually won bv Mr G. Mercer.
Highest individual scorer. Mr Patterson's trophy : Won by Mr ,T. A. St°wnrt 'Old Navals). after playing off with Mr A. Ben=emann (Carpenters!.
An old cribba.ee players' trophy, .-for host-71 out of 34 games: Won bv Mr. W. Brav (Druids) after play off with Mpr<=t=; Hay and Sfcar»?> (Union). Highest individual scorer (Mr D. Crnshek's troohv). drawn for from forty players who tied : Mr -J- Newton.
