At the Wanganui Magistrate's Court yesterday |morning, four orchardists were charged with . failing to spray trees. They were fined £2, and costs 7s.

It is rumoured around Petone, says the "Post," that four or five of the borough councillors are going to hand in their resignations after next meeting, in consequence of some of the Mayor's recent rulings.

As an outcome of the Dominion Conference of the Reform League, a 'branch is to be formed in Nelson. Arrangements, Mr .Maginnity informs us, have been made for placing the movement on a firm basis, and it is expected that its efforts will extend over a wide area. An important auxiliary will be the Women's Branch which has' proved so useful and so pooular in other parts of the Dominion.

At Wellington to-day reserved judgment was given in the case police v. Shelliti, in which the latter was charged with publishing betting charts and circulars relating to betting on horse races. Circulars and a chart had been sent to the police; but there was no evidence to show who had posted them from Nelson. The information was dismissed. —Press wire.

The men attending the recent Conference of the Reform League represented all sections of the people, said Mr A. T. Maginnity to-day. A view of the debgate who came from every electorate 'in the Dominion, he added, would quickly dispel the. very erroneous idea some people have that the Reform League is supported simply by large landholders. The Mr Maginnity stated, was most enthusiastic, and it demonstrated the fact that'the League was'supported bv manv thousands of patriotic New Zen'anders from one end of the Dominion to the other.
