PROBABLE SETTLEMENT OF REEFTON DETDLOCK.
REFERRED TO ARBITRATION COURTSUGGESTION BY THE PREMIER. (United Press Association.) ~~REEFTON, .luly 12. The citizens' committee to-day received :i 'Wire from Sir 'A. R. Guinness stating: "Premier settling deadlock here; been referred to Arbitration Court: suggested thai, ponding decision, work bo resumed at mines." Mr Phillips, acting-chairman of the committee, thanked the Speaker and the Premier, and tho meeting, as a deputation, waited on the general manager of the Consolidated Goldfields, and presented the suggestion. Mr Evans ajrreed to forward the. proposition to the' Mine Owners' Association. Owing- to the exodus of single men, those coming off the road works have not swelled the union's roll as much as was expected. Only nineteen natres have been recorded as an increase. The County Council is still employing all it possibly can.
