The Panajna C'anal Bill was introduced into the House of Representatives, and was debated for seven hours. The opTwnentp claimed that the provisions <3/ the Bill gave greater benefits to Canadian and British vessels than to American ; the opponents also prophesied the complete overthrow of Boston. Portland (Oregon), Seattle, and other American ports if the Bill was adopted. A bitter fiebt is pending over the provision prohibiting a railroad-owned vessel from using the canal.
